Sean Bittle addresses Ontario e-Learning Showcase
Biographix represents 24 organizations of the Lifelong Learning Challenge Fund
Toronto, ON - March 19, 2005: Eight innovative online educational projects were unveiled today "thanks to the leadership of TVOntario, the support of the Ontario government and the vision of both public and private sectors partners," said Sean Bittle, CEO of The Biographix Corporation.
Mr. Bittle, representing the 24 organizations involved in the Lifelong Learning Challenge Fund, launched the projects with Ms. Marilyn Mushinsky, (MPP Scarborough Centre) Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, Isabel Bassett who is Chair and CEO of TVOntario and Richard Johnston, President of Centennial College.
"The 24 organizations include Brock University, Labourers International Union of North America, Bell Canada, IBM Canada and McMaster eBusiness Research Centre. The Biographix Corporation worked with Centennial College on a leading edge automotive engine electronics training program, to teach "fixing cars over the Internet," said Mr. Bittle.
"We can all celebrate the success of this collaborative enterprise. Each of us is one step closer to our vision of developing new and necessary online workplace training programs," he said.
The eight projects, funded by $10 million in private and public development, resulted in eight new approaches to education, 20 individual courses and over 1000 hours of new learning for the people of Ontario. The projects covered topics on Engine Electronic Controls, Food handling, Nursing, Welding, Blueprint reading, Automotive Manufacturing parts handling, Electronic technician training and e-Commerce for small businesses.
Biographix, with Centennial College, created the project to teach Electronic Engine Control Skills in a new and innovative way by building a highly realistic simulation of the electrical and electronic systems found in a typical automobile. The simulation included "broken" components and challenged technicians to find the faults using diagnostic tools on the screen identical to those found in an automotive workshop. Biographix contributed the simulation and project management with Centennial College providing the automotive subject matter expertise and course structuring.
